Dave Daniels, mine genial host at Ye Olde Churchill's Pub, started out in show-business 50-year agone this March 17, booking the likes of "Jimmy Page & His Band of Joy" into clubs in the north of England.  (Long before Led Zeppelin was a twinkle in anybody's eye).>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Coincidentally, this date also marks the birth of the Welsh shepherd boy who was kidnapped by Irish slavers and inflicted his enduring revenge for the snatching by destroying their native religion and converting the whole boiling of 'em to Christianity.>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>So, let's deem this a St. Dave's & St. Pat's Day Bash.>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Rock legend Charlie Pickett will be on the slide SG.  The fabulous Chris DeAngelis is on bass.  Hammering out the backbeat on drums is "El Torito," a/k/a Alexander Milne.  And yours truly gets to hone his rock 'n' roll chops on the Les Paul.  STOP PRESS BULLETIN!!!  Diane Ward has promised to join us and belt out a few numbers!!!  Word has it that the Camacho Triplets and Graham Drout from IKO-IKO will also be there.  (Hmmmm, some kinda jam threatens . . .) >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>We will be playing a mix of oldies but goodies (our own and other peoples') and new tunes we have written recently.  Just brutal, straight-forward, much-too-loud, three-chord rock with attitude.  We promise not to play anything remotely Irish – But there will be lots of the best (and cheapest) Guinness in town and Churchill’s bar food – especially their fish-n’-chips - is stellar.  (For them as fancies it, Dave usually does an Erse boil-up for St. Paddy’s, too). >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Details at www.churchillspub.com and here's a link, straight to the beer list http://www.churchillspub.com/beer.html >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>See you there?  It's gonna be a whole bunch of fun!  (Yes, I know it's the middle of the week.  Just hurt a little on Thursday).

After The Show - November 22, 2009

 Revs at Churchill's_resized

The Revs would like to thank all of you who made our first show up at Churchill's on Saturday night such a blast!  Our gratitude to Rat Bastard for mixing the sound to that fine solar-plexus-punch-overload that every band at Churchill's strives for.  Thanks to all our local friends who came out to support us - many of whom left clad in our red-on-black "Revelators" stencil T-shirts.  Alexander thundered like a jackhammer.  Charlie wailed.  Chris grooved.  And I remembered most of the chords and some of the lyrics.  Old friends like Cortland Joyce - in from Nashville - getting on stage to sing with us (shown here being ably assisted by Rusty Hammond - ex of the DT Martyrs) made the experience complete.

Thank You!  Thank You!  Thank You!

Miami Herald Article - "New Band to Hit Churchill's Stage" - November 18, 2009

Here is what the Miami Herald said in a really nice piece, hot off the press, by Paradise Afshar (love the name!), a few minutes ago -- with some great pics of the lads mugging for the camera, onstage at Churchill's last Sunday night (taken by Chris Cutro) can be found here:  http://www.miamiherald.com/news/miami-dade/gables-smiami/story/1339128.html

Miami Herald Photo Shoot, November 15, 2009 - November 16, 2009

Just got back from Churchill's with Charlie, Chris and Alexander for a Miami Herald interview and photo shoot for "The Revelators." There was a "Battle of the Bands" going on. We got on stage between bands to mug a bit for the Herald camera. Alexander started a groove going -- so of course we wound up actually plugging in and jamming. Felt great! Looking forward to the show on Saturday . . .

The Revelators' First Show - Saturday November 21, 2009 - Churchill's! - November 10, 2009

Rehearsals have been going great.  We've been playing old standards, from "Street Fighting Man" to "Summertime Blues," as well as old stuff that one or another of us wrote in prior lives.  And we have been steadily adding to the list of new tunes we have been creating together.  Charlie came in one evening with a new rocker running through his head: "Let's Rock!"  Chris and Alexander came up with a new popper: "Lonely Guy."  And I worked out this tune based on a hard rock riff with a chorus -- in common with a growing catalog of tunes worldwide -- of "Burn, M*****F*****, Burn."  Plus there are the ancient gospel songs we have dredged up, like "John The Revelator," which we are steadily transmuting into works of The Devil.  We keep turning the amps up a bit more, a bit more, until we stagger out, stunned and bleeding, ears ringing, but still grinnin.'  Ah, Rock-and Roll!
